The global bleeding disorders community will come together to celebrate World Hemophilia Day

 LUDHIANA( MANINDER SINGH) On Sunday, April 14, 2024, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, in partnership with the Haemophilia Society Ludhiana, joined hands to commemorate World Haemophilia Day under the theme “Equitable Access for All: Recognizing All Bleeding Disorders”.
This momentous event aimed to raise awareness about Haemophilia, drawing participation from numerous patients and families across North India. Commencing at 10:00 am with a prayer and invocation, it set a tone of unity and hope.
Haemophilia, a rare bleeding disorder, poses challenges to those affected, yet their resilience shines through. Dr. Samuel N J David, Associate Director, General Admin. (HR), in his welcoming address, exemplified this spirit, extending a warm welcome to all attendees.
Dr. Allen Joseph, Medical Superintendent, highlighted the power of collaboration in addressing Haemophilia, emphasizing its significance in enhancing patient welfare. Subsequent speeches by Sis. Sangeeta Nicholas and Dr. M. Joseph John underscored the importance of knowledge and unity in combating this condition.
Key sessions led by experts Dr Varun Kaul, HOD Paediatric Department, GMC Faridkot and Dr. Jaskaran Singh, Nodal Officer, Civil hospital Ludhiana, delved into innovative treatments and management strategies, offering insights to empower patients and caregivers. Practical demonstrations on self-infusion techniques aimed to enhance patient independence and confidence.
Sis Deepshikha Gupta, Nursing Supervisor, gave a presentation on self-infusion of factors, while Dr. Vijay Chaudhary, DM resident, Department of Clinical Haematology served as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the event.
Haemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS) and Functional independency score in Haemophilia (FISH) assessments were done by the Physiotherapy Team
A panel discussion featuring esteemed doctors including Dr. Lydia Solomon, Professor, Dept. of Medicine Dr. Abhishek Samuel, Associate Professor, Department of Orthopedics, Dr. Jaskaran Singh and Dr. Diksha Sarwan (PT), facilitated open dialogue, addressing patient queries and fostering a sense of community.
