Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, Upgrades Bone Marrow Transplant Unit

 Ludhiana .Punjabi Headline(H S KITTY ) Christian Medical College (CMC), Ludhiana, has achieved a major milestone with the inauguration of its upgraded, state-of-the-art Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit. Renowned for introducing Punjab’s first allogeneic stem cell transplant program in 2008, the Department of Clinical Hematology has since performed over 285 successful transplants, including 100 for Thalassemia patients

The department specializes in advanced techniques such as matched related, unrelated, haploidentical, and autologous stem cell transplants. With the upgraded facility, the BMT unit now houses eight dedicated transplant beds equipped with cutting-edge technology, significantly enhancing its capacity to manage complex hematological conditions.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Pankaj Malhotra, Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Hematology & Medical Oncology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Dr. Alok Srivastava from St. John’s Research Institute.

Dr. William Bhatti, Director of CMC, Ludhiana, expressed gratitude for the support of Mr. S.P. Oswal, CMD of Vardhman Textiles Ltd., whose contributions made the upgraded facility a reality. This initiative highlights Vardhman’s commitment to improving healthcare access for underprivileged communities.
