Ludhiana, January 10, 2025:(H S KITTY) Member of Parliament (Raj Sabha) Sanjeev Arora from Ludhiana said Air India has confirmed to him that flight operations from Halwara Airport will commence in future.
In a statement here today, he said that Air India’s Group Head – GRC & Corporate Affairs P Balaji had informed them through his letter on January 8, 2025 after AAI officially proceeding and obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals Air India will start flight operations to Halwara Airport.
“This new development is an exciting milestone in our efforts to increase connectivity in Punjab, benefiting both the business and tourism sectors,” Balaji further told Arora.
In his letter to Arora, Balaji wrote, “We deeply appreciate your continued support and commitment to the advancement of India’s aviation infrastructure.” “
Arora had written a letter on December 6 last year requesting early confirmation of flight operations from Halwara to Balaji. He said this in the context of his discussion with Natarajan Chandrashekharan (Chairman, Tata Sons and Air India). Following this, a high level meeting took place in Gurgaon on August 14, 2024 in which Kartikeya Bhatt, Moin, Piyush Kharbanda, Shashi Chetia participated.
The Air India team visited Ludhiana on August 29 last year to study the feasibility of flying operations with representatives from industries and various local groups. The team included Manish Puri (Head of Sales – India), Kartikeya Bhatt (AVP Network Planning) and Gaurav Khanna. The team saw great potential in the Delhi Halwara route, especially for international and industrial travelers. This flight will serve the entire Malwa region of Punjab.
Arora was in contact with Kartikeya, who has been positive about resuming flights from Halwara airport. Now the flights will be starting soon. According to Arora, by contacting Air India, we will be able to obtain the required permissions from the relevant agencies sooner.
They wrote further that the people of Ludhiana are eagerly awaiting the resumption of civil flight operations from the city and confirmation from Air India would give them much-needed assurance.
Meanwhile, Arora has thanked Air India for accepting their demand. He also thanked the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana Jatinder Jorwal and said that the Deputy Commissioner is regularly monitoring the ongoing works in Halwara. Arora said they are investigating the matter under the leadership of their party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He reiterated that this is the dream project of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Ludhiana, January 10, 2025: MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora said that Air India has confirmed him that flight operations from Halwara Airport will begin in the future.
In a statement here today, he added Air India’s Group Head – GRC & Corporate Affairs P Balaji vide his letter dated January 8th, 2025 has informed him that Air India will commence flight operations to Halwara airport once they are officially given go ahead by AAI and receive all necessary regulatory approvals.
Balaji has further informed Arora that “this new development marks an exciting milestone in our efforts to expand connectivity to Punjab, benefiting both business and tourism sector”.

Arora on December 6 last had written & requested for early confirmation on flight operations from Halwara to Balaji that in reference to his discussions with Natarajan Chandrasekaran (Chairman, Tata Sons & Air India), followed by a high-level meeting on 14th August, 2024 in Gurgaon, attended by Kartikey Bhatt, Moin, Piyush Kharbanda, Shashi Chetia.
