Prunus 2025: A Celebration of Medical Excellence and Alumni Contributions at CMC Ludhiana”

An academic feast ‘Prunus 2025’ was organized in Christian Medical College, Ludhiana by Association of Medical Alumni, CMC, Ludhiana on 23rd March 2025 under the patronage of Dr William Bhatti (Director), Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian (Principal) and Dr Allen Joseph (Medical Superintendent) with Dr Ajay Kumar and Dr Nitin Batra as organizing chairpersons and Dr Neena Bhatti as organizing secretary. Dr Apjinder Kaur, Executive Member of Punjab Medical Council was the chief guest for the event. She mentioned that CMC Ludhiana keeps standards very high in terms of continuing medical education, academic activities and advancement in medical field to serve the community in healthcare. She further appreciated the hard work and dedication of all health care professionals in CMC Ludhiana. She announced 4 CME Credit hours award from Punjab Medical Council for this CME. The CME commenced with short description of the name and logo of the event ‘Prunus’ which is a single tree developed through grafting and bears 40 different kinds of fruits symbolizing CMC as the single tree and alumni nourished from it and currently flourishing in different aspects of health and medical care. Dr Ajay Kumar also informed the gathering about the Cultural Programme planned at the end of CME named as PRU-FUN. The event witnessed various national and international speakers and delegates contributing their area of expertise creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and learning. Dr Anish Thomas, Dr Inderjit Gill, Dr Vinita Mani, Dr Sanjeev Dayal, Dr Pankaj Nelson, Dr Veronica Shah and Dr Jugesh Chatwal were the speakers for the CME. MBBS Students also participated in the CME and made oral presentation of the research work they have done under the guidance of faculty of CMC Ludhiana. The Newsletter of Alumni Association CMC known as Alumni Express was also released during the programme. Dr Nitin Batra, the Editor in Chief invited the First Editor of Alumni Express, Dr Jugesh Chatwal, MBBS Alumni from Batch of 1975 while all dignitaries joined the release. All the other speakers had done their graduate medical studies in CMC Ludhiana and had come back for a Reunion scheduled on Founder’s Day 24th March. Novel concepts and advanced techniques in healthcare were discussed and the event ended with a contented medical audience who were deeply inspired and encouraged by the works of other Alumni of CMC Ludhiana.
