Ludhiana, March 20, 2026:Marking Head Injury Awareness Month, the Department of Neurosurgery at Christian Medical College & Hospital Ludhiana organized a comprehensive awareness program to highlight the importance of prevention, early intervention, and rehabilitation in head injuries.
The program began with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome address. Keynote messages were delivered by Dr. Paul Sudhakar John, Dr. William Bhatti, and Dr. Amit Mahajan. The speakers stressed the urgent need for adopting safety measures such as wearing helmets, following road safety norms, and ensuring early medical intervention in case of head injuries.
Observed globally on March 20 as World Head Injury Awareness Day, this year’s theme, “My Brain Injury Journey,” focused on patient experiences and the path to recovery. The event featured an engaging skit to spread awareness, an informative session by Dr. Moloti, and an interactive quiz conducted by Dr. Pallavi, Dr. Krithika, and their team. The audience actively participated in a Q&A session, enhancing understanding of head injury prevention and care.
Experts highlighted key preventive measures including the use of helmets and seat belts, fall prevention strategies, timely access to ambulance services, and the importance of early treatment at tertiary care centers. The need for comprehensive rehabilitation for patients recovering from head injuries was also strongly emphasized.
The Neurosurgery Department at Christian Medical College & Hospital Ludhiana, established in 1963, continues to provide advanced neurosurgical care.
