Interdisciplinary Event Highlights Advances in Diagnosis, Treatment, and Care of Multiple Sclerosis Raising Awareness and Advancing Knowledge on Multiple Sclerosis
Ludhiana, May 27, 2025 — The Department of Neurology at CMC), Ludhiana, organized a comprehensive academic session to observe World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, aimed at spreading awareness and fostering interdepartmental learning on this complex neurological condition.
The session began with a keynote address by Dr. Allen Joseph, Medical Superintendent, who stressed the need for early diagnosis, integrated treatment, and community involvement in managing MS. “CMC remains deeply committed to enhancing the lives of people with MS through timely intervention and multidisciplinary care,” he said.
Dr. Jeyaraj D. Pandian, Head of the Department of Neurology, highlighted CMC’s longstanding contribution to the management of MS. He spoke about the institution’s pioneering work in research, patient support, and cross-disciplinary rehabilitation efforts. “Our journey in MS care reflects the power of collaboration between clinical science and compassionate service,” he shared.
The academic talks delivered by CMC faculty provided deep insights into different aspects of MS:
Dr. Ivy Sebastian, Associate Professor, elaborated on the biological basis of MS, including the immune system’s role and neurodegenerative processes. Dr. Rajeshwar Sahota, Associate Professor, explained the diagnostic protocols for MS, emphasizing MRI techniques and clinical markers. Dr. Vineeth Jaison, Professor, presented on the latest treatment strategies, including immunotherapies and evolving standards of care including stem cell therapy for aggressive forms of multiple sclerosis
The session was attended by a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, residents, physiotherapists, and delegates from various departments, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of MS management.
