CMC Ludhiana Marks World Physiotherapy Day with Symposium on “Healthy Ageing and Fall Prevention”

Ludhiana, September 8:Punjabiheadline (HS KITTYThe College of Physiotherapy, Christian Medical College & Hospital (CMC&H), Ludhiana celebrated World Physiotherapy Day with a thought-provoking symposium on this year’s global theme, “Healthy Ageing: The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in Preventing Frailty and Falls.” The event took place at the hospital auditorium and was attended by eminent dignitaries, faculty, and students.

The occasion was graced by Dr. William Bhatti, Director CMC, and Mr. Vijay Maini, Director, Hindustan Cycles and Tubes Pvt. Ltd., who joined as the Chief Guest. Dr. Jaspreet Singh Vij, Associate Professor, University College of Physiotherapy, BFUHS Faridkot, delivered the keynote address. Also present were Dr. Jeyaraj D. Pandian, Principal, CMC, and Dr. Allen Joseph, Medical Superintendent.

The event began with an opening address by Dr. Simran, followed by a prayer by Rev. Nitin. The college choir presented a soulful musical performance, leading into the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.
Prof. Sandeep Saini, Principal, College of Physiotherapy, delivered the welcome address, introducing the theme and extending a warm welcome to all dignitaries.

In their inspiring speeches, the Director and Chief Guest highlighted the growing importance of physiotherapy in ensuring healthy ageing, preventing falls, and promoting independence among the elderly.

The keynote lecture by Dr. Jaspreet Singh Vij on “Evidence-Based Practice: Patients’ Perspective” provided valuable insights into patient-centered care and the role of research-driven physiotherapy practices in modern healthcare.

Adding to the day’s significance, college students participated in a poster-making competition that showcased innovative ideas on the symposium theme. Dr. Vishakha presented an overview of the physiotherapy services at CMC Ludhiana, emphasizing the institution’s role in advancing rehabilitation and patient well-being.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Dorcas Gandhi, Vice Principal, who appreciated the participation and contributions of faculty, students, and guests in making the celebration a memorable one.
