40th LOBO memorial oraton, 2024 was held at Guy N Constable Auditorium, Christan Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana on 29th November, 2024. Professor (Dr.) Rajeev Sood, Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University for Health Sciences, Faridkot, delivered the oraton on MEN’S HEALTH. He talked about the problems associated with males and he stressed that many problems of men are due to small sized Y chromosomes which carry lesser number of telomeres which are again disease prone and have higher chances of mutation. He discussed the remedies to

strengthen male’s Y chromosomes, and protect Y chromosomes telomeres. Dr. Nitin Agarwal, Head, Urology Department, CMCH and Organizing Chairman of 40th LOBO Oraton, introduced the orator to the audience. Dr. William Bhatti, Director, CMCH, Ludhiana gave the welcome address and did lamp lighting ceremony with Dr. Rajeev Sood, Dr. Jeyraj, Principal, CMC, Ludhiana, Dr. Parvez Haque, Head, Surgery Dept. CMC, Ludhiana, Dr. Karamveer Goyal, PMC member, Mr Maninderjit Singh, President, Dr LOBO trust and Dr Navneet Choudhry, Secretary, LOBO trust . Oration was followed by CME on “Urinary Tract Infections.” Dr. Uma Kant Dutt, Urologist, and Head, Urology Department, AIIMS, Bilaspur gave his talk on uncomplicated urinary tract infections and discussed about signs and symptoms of UTI and first line of antibiotics to treat urinary tract infections. Dr. Katumalla Francis Sridhar, Urologist and Kidney Transplant Surgeon from Hyderabad discussed about complicated UTI and explained about the conditions which can lead to complicated


urinary tract infections and also discussed treatment options and prevention for complicated urinary
tract infections. Dr. Anil Luther, Professor of Surgery, CMC and Dr. Neeraj Goyal, urologist chaired the session and conducted question and answer session and prizes in form of books were given to doctors and staff nurses who participated in question and answer session. Dr. Chinmayee Agarwal, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Haematologist from Noida, UP discussed about urinary tract infections in cancer patients as well as patients who had transplanted organs. She also shared the experience about life threatening urinary tract infection in cancer and leukaemia patients and discussed about clinical situations and treatment options. Dr. Joseph John, renowned clinical haematologist, CMC, Ludhiana chaired the session with Dr. Ashish Jindal, Urologist and
conducted question and answer session. Dr. Partho Mukherjee, Associate professor, CMC, Vellore
actively answered audience queries regarding urinary tract infections in immune-compromised patients.
Dr. Kavita Bhatti, Head, Gynaecology Department, CMC, Ludhiana discussed about urinary tract infections in pregnancy which is an extra ordinary situation in pregnant women, puting burden on healthcare system. She discussed signs and symptoms and also described international guidelines and recommendations to treat UTI in pregnancy.

Dr. Ashima Taneja, Head, Gynae Department, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana and Dr. Vinita Agarwal, Consultant Gynaecologist chaired the session and conducted interesting and interactive session and audience made lot of
queries to Dr. Kiran Bhatti, which were answered at length.
Dr. Yogesh Kalra, Consultant Urologist, Deepak Hospital, Ludhiana gave his talk on role of nutraceuticals in urinary tract infections. He discussed about the role of cranberries in management and prevention of urinary tract infections and presented international data regarding benefit of cranberries in UTI. DR. Anuj Jain and Dr. Amit Tuli chaired the session and distributed prizes to winners from audience who gave right answers.
Dr. Arti Tuli, Consultant Gynaecologist explained role of artificial intelligence in diagnosis and
treatment of UTI. This talk created a lot of enthusiasm in audience and attracted lot of queries.Dr. Tuli answered the queries and whole house was of opinion that A.I. has big future in medicine.

Dr. Jas mine Dass, Head, Nephrology Department, CMC, Ludhiana and Dr. Nitin Agarwal, Head, Urology Department, CMC, Ludhiana chaired and conducted the session.
Dr Punit Bansal, Urologist, and Dr Anuj Jain, Consultant Urologist, both from RG Stone Hospital, Dr Vikas Kumar, Urologist, Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana also answered queries from the audience comprising doctors and other health workers.
At last URO-QUIZ was held for resident doctors of CMC, Ludhiana. Uro –quiz evoked good excitement and response among graduate and post graduate students of CMC, Ludhiana. Prizes, comprising books worth 1 lac rupees, were given to winners and audience comprising doctors and health workers who answered urology questions. Dr Ishaan and Dr Manish (Surgery PG students) won first prize, Dr Stephen and Dr Megha (Surgery PG students) won second prize and Dr Raj and Dr
Parth (Surgery PG students) won third prize. Mrs Renu, operation theatre staff also won audience prize.

Dr Amit Mahajan, Professor, Surgery, CMC, Ludhiana was the quiz master and put interesting questions to contestants and audience. APL Apollo Foundation, NOIDA supported the URO-QUIZ and Mr Maninderjit Singh and Dr Kim Mammen from LOBO trust distributed the prizes.
Dr Sumeet Kathuria 3rd year resident conducted the inaugural function. Faculty and resident doctors of Surgery Department made arrangements for the oration especially Dr Reuben, Dr Anuj Rattan and Dr Chinar Goyal.
