CMC Ludhiana Hosts State-Level Nursing Conference on Qualitative Research and Evidence Synthesis

Ludhiana | April 9, 2025 Punjabi Headline( HARMINDER SINGH KITTY)  The College of Nursing, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, successfully hosted a One Day State Level Conference (CNE-2025) on Wednesday, centered around the theme “Advancing Nursing Research: Exploring Qualitative Approaches and Evidence Synthesis for Better Healthcare Outcomes. The conference aimed to promote understanding and application of qualitative research methodologies to enhance patient-centered care and strengthen evidence-based practices in nursing.

The event was held under the esteemed leadership of Dr. William Bhatti, Director of CMC and Patron/Guest of Honour for the event; Dr. Harjit, Professor and Principal/Organizing Chairperson; Prof. (Mrs.) Premlata Prakash, Vice Principal and Organizing Secretary; Prof. (Dr.) Reena Jairus, CNE Coordinator; and Prof. (Mrs.) Ritu P. Naihar, Vice Principal and Treasurer of CNE-2025. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Puneet Girdhar, Registrar, Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC), Mohali.

The conference saw the participation of over 200 delegates, including faculty members, Ph.D. scholars, and aspiring nurse researchers. The inaugural session began at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome by Prof. (Mrs.) Ritu P. Naihar. This was followed by an invocation song by B.Sc.(N) students, a Bible reading and prayer by Rev. Roger from the Fellowship Department, and a traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries.

Dr. Harjit delivered the welcome address, extending greetings to all attendees. Dr. William Bhatti, in his address, applauded the efforts of the organizing committee and emphasized the significance of qualitative research in healthcare. He highlighted how understanding patient experiences through such approaches can lead to improved care practices and health policies.

Prof. (Mrs.) Premlata Prakash elaborated on the conference theme, highlighting the integration of qualitative and quantitative research to build comprehensive healthcare knowledge. Chief Guest Dr. Puneet Girdhar encouraged young nurses to pursue higher education and contribute meaningfully to the profession.

The session also featured the release of a souvenir capturing the essence of the event. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Mrs.) Ritu P. Naihar.

Throughout the day, eight enriching plenary sessions were conducted by experts from renowned institutions such as CMC Ludhiana, INE GTB (C) Hospital, DMCH Ludhiana, NINE PGIMER Chandigarh, AIIMS Jammu, Chitkara School of Health Sciences Rajpura, Gian Sagar College of Nursing Banur, SKSS College of Nursing Sarabha, and Kular College of Nursing, Kishangarh. These sessions offered deep insights into qualitative research methodologies and evidence synthesis in nursing.

Chairpersons and speakers were felicitated with saplings, promoting a message of sustainability and appreciation.

An e-poster presentation showcased innovative research by nursing students and faculty from various colleges. Judges for the session included Dr. Vineeth Jaison (Professor, Neurology Dept., CMC), Prof. (Mrs.) Seema Barnabas (Principal, Kular College of Nursing), and Prof. (Mrs.) Premlata Prakash. They were honored with tokens of appreciation. Ms. Anu Rajan, an M.Sc.(N) 1st-year student from CMC Ludhiana, won the first prize for her poster. Winners received trophies and certificates.

A post-test was conducted at the end to assess the knowledge gained by participants.

The CNE-2025 conference successfully met its objectives by empowering nursing professionals with advanced research knowledge, encouraging the use of qualitative inquiry, and promoting evidence-based practices to improve healthcare outcomes.
