🎤 Oration on “Immersive Learning in Simulated Environment”

G. Lailavathi Oration Award by APMEDUCON 2025, held at Alluri Sitarama Raju Academy of Medical Sciences, Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Badyal delivered the keynote oration on the theme “Immersive learning in simulated environment”, where he emphasized how immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and alternate reality (AltR) are transforming the way medical professionals are trained.
> “Doctors can now develop clinical skills in safe, controlled, and real-world-like settings. Virtual simulation enables training in procedures, critical decision-making, teamwork, and even communication skills through role-plays,” Dr. Badyal shared in his address.
🛠️ Workshop on Simulated Patients
As part of the conference, Dr. Badyal also conducted a hands-on workshop titled “Creating Simulated Patient Programs”, training over 40 doctors from across India. He stressed the urgent need to incorporate simulated patients into both undergraduate and postgraduate medical training—especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum.

Dr. Badyal proudly highlighted that CMC Ludhiana houses India’s first Virtual Reality Lab for Pediatric Trauma Training, showcasing the institution’s pioneering role in immersive medical education.
As a core member of the National Curriculum Committee under the National Medical Commission (NMC), Dr. Badyal has played a vital role in shaping the new CBME-based curriculum for MBBS and postgraduate medical education.
