Ludhiana, punjabiheadline( H S KITTY) August 22, 2025: A remarkable achievement was recorded at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) when Dr. Anubhav Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, successfully performed a highly complex surgery on a 4-year-old child suffering from Ewing’s Sarcoma – a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer located around the ankle region (distal fibula).
This landmark procedure is the first of its kind at DMC&H, focusing not only on the complete removal of the malignant tumor but also on preserving the child’s limb, thus offering the young patient a chance at leading a normal and active life.
The young patient, hailing from an economically underprivileged family, faced not only a life-threatening disease but also the heavy burden of treatment costs. Displaying exceptional humanitarian spirit, Dr. Sharma personally took the initiative to arrange financial aid by reaching out to friends and well-wishers, ensuring that the child received world-class medical care without financial constraints.
Lauding this extraordinary achievement, Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, along with Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, and the entire administrative team, praised Dr. Sharma’s surgical expertise and compassion, terming it an “inspiring example of medical excellence with a human touch.”
The child’s parents were overwhelmed with gratitude, stating, “We had lost all hope, but today, because of Dr. Sharma and the team at DMC&H, our child has been given a new life.”
This accomplishment not only underscores DMC&H’s commitment to advanced healthcare but also highlights the power of empathy in medicine, setting a shining precedent for future medical endeavors.
