Ludhiana, Punjabiheadline(Harminder Singh Kitty) The Department of Plastic Surgery at Christian Medical College (CMC), Ludhiana celebrated World Plastic Surgery Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and purpose on July 15th, dedicating the day to raising awareness about the transformative power of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
This year’s theme, “Changing Lives with Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery”, highlighted how procedures in this field not only enhance appearance but also restore function, dignity, and hope for patients recovering from trauma, congenital anomalies, burns, and cancer.
Inspiring Awareness Session at Guru Nanak Group of Colleges
The day began with a special awareness session held at Guru Nanak Group of Colleges, Gopalpur, Ludhiana, where Dr. Pinki Pargal, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at CMC Ludhiana, delivered an inspiring talk on the multifaceted scope of plastic surgery.
Dr. Pargal emphasized that:
> “Plastic surgery is not just about aesthetics—it’s about restoring form and function, rebuilding hope, and helping patients regain their confidence and dignity.”
Her session shed light on both reconstructive and aesthetic surgical advances at CMC, including procedures related to burns, cleft lip and palate, trauma, hand surgeries, and cancer reconstructions.
In a touching gesture of appreciation, Dr. Y. N. Sharma, Director of Guru Nanak Group of Colleges, felicitated Dr. Pinki Pargal, praising her continued dedication to youth education, healthcare awareness, and community outreach.

Later in the day, the department hosted a joyful cake-cutting ceremony, joined by faculty members, residents, nursing, and support staff, celebrating the unity and commitment that define the Department of Plastic Surgery.
